Available Java Applet in Android devices

Java Applet is available in Android devices now.

I announced OpenJDK for Android release in the last week.

But, Java applet is not available because OpenJDK has no Java applet plugin.

Instead, IcedTea-Web is a Java applet plugin for OpenJDK.

I finally ported the IcedTea-Web with the OpenJDK.

Now, you find Java applet is available in Firefox in Android device.

Let's try Firefox and OpenJDK for AndroPorts.

OpenJDK for Android Released

I'm happy to announce the world first release of OpenJDK for Android.

OpenJDK

OpenJDK (Open Java Development Kit) is a free and open source implementation of the Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE).

This release is based on OpenJDK 9.

Special Features

Available Database with LibreOffice

It was very hard to support Database of LibreOffice because it depends on Java environment.

It's very hard to port for Android in spite of based on Java language, too.

Strictly, they are different Java environment and Android environment.

I decided to port JDK to support database of LibreOffice.

LibreOffice for AndroPorts Released

I'm happy to announce that LibreOffice for AndroPorts is released now!

It's still in the beta version and has some limitations, but you can see full features of LibreOffice in your Android device.

This is based on the most latest version 5.4.

AndroPorts 0.6.0 Released: Portrait Mode Supported

AndroPorts version 0.6.0 is released.

Portrait Mode Supported

AndroPorts was only supported landscape mode, but by supporting XRandR portrait mode is possible from version 0.6.0.

AndroPorts changes display size by every device rotation.

Please update other apps for this supporting.

The latest versions are:

Firefox for AndroPorts is released.

Yes, Firefox for Android is already released.

But, this is not a mobile version, this is a fully desktop version.

You can use full features of desktop version.

Yes, you can debug from browser!

Limitations in this first version

Sorry, this first version has some limitations:

- Not supported for sounds
- Not supported for H264
- Not supported for WebRTC
- Not supported for NPAPI (Flash plugin, JRE plugin)
- Not supported for file dialog

And has any bugs.
